Title 1

Welcome to Reading Club! (Title 1a)

What is Title I?
Title I is a federal program designed to provide additional reading support to students at risk of not meeting the challenging academic standards set by the state. As a federally funded grant under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), Title I prioritizes the use of research-based, systematic, and explicit instructional methods to meet the diverse needs of students. All staff working under Title I are required to meet the highly qualified status mandated by ESSA. As a parent, you have the right to request information regarding the professional qualifications of your child’s classroom teacher. We are proud to inform you that all certified teachers at Banks Elementary meet these highly qualified teacher standards.

Parental involvement is a key component of the Title I program, and we encourage parents to participate in enhancing the reading instruction at Banks Elementary. We welcome and appreciate the valuable contributions parents can make toward the success of our students!

For more information on how to get involved, please contact our Title I staff.

The Title I Coordinator at Banks Elementary School is Bobbie Gregg.

How Are Students Identified for Title I Services?
Students are identified for Title I services through a combination of reading assessments and ongoing progress monitoring. These assessments may include DIBELS, statewide testing data, teacher referrals, and classroom progress information. These tools help us determine which students may benefit from additional support to enhance their reading skills.
